My newly acquired 1948 L15 has a dashboard keyring attached to what looks like electrical wiring for starter-activating purposes.

Can anyone sell me something which looks less like it came from a junk shop?

I assume I need something which would attach to part no. K29a [I assume my car (chassis 566781) was Paris-built, and instead of Lucas parts expected in a Slough-built car there are French parts]

        Peter,

That sounds very “unusual”.  I am wondering if your car gas been the subject of some ingeniuous Aussie fettling to keep it running at a time when the correct spare parts were less easily sourced

I understand your car is RHD, is there not a rectangular aluminium chassis  plate stating “Citroen Cars Ltd” on the bulkhead?  Does it have the “Slough” style wooden dash?

Is it 12V and does it have a starter solenoid probably mounted on a bracket on the drivers side close to the battery?

K29a is simply a cable which, when pulled, operates a mechanical switch mounted on the starter motor.

Can you post pictures of the dash and starter motor as a guide, please?

A picture of the starter switch on my 1949 Light 15. It is a Lucas switch fitted to a number of cars of the period, I know Austin Healeys had them.

              Peter,

The Slough ignition switch, D81A, Lucas 30608, offered by the club is the later, key operated, version and definitely not suitable.  I think the Club part you require is probably D39A but you should confirm with Chris before ordering.

However, there are plenty of suitable push button switches on the net, one example here but you can probably find one locally and save on shipping costs ….

As this switch is intended to simply energises a solenoid there is little load so, as long as you still have the solenoid in your starter circuit, a light duty unit such as a horn button will be equally suitable,
