After a disasterous bearing failure due to an incompetent engine rebuilder I am now looking for a set of 11D or DS con rods to save my 1949 Light 15 from the vagaries of white metal bearings. The original bearings lasted 70 years with little wear but I am told modern white metalling may only last a few months! Help.

      Cheers

Originals are now hard to find Richard. Copies are available from TOC Spares listed as: E51a – D121-010 – 11D conrods  as well as the usual suppliers in the EU but given the current situation, TOC spares, if in stock might be the quickest.

When I rebuilt the 15/6 engine in 2017, I was unable to source a decent set of used parts and I bought 6 new rods from the TOC Spares.

They appear to be good quality and pretty well matched for weight – probably better than they would have been in 1955! – and I am pleased to report they are performing well.
