The Normandy Rally was well attended, and our thanks go to
Vicki & Martin and to Sue and Peter for all their care and effort
in organising a memorable holiday. 34 members in 15 tractions
drove around a well planned route, with picnic stops for lunch and
visits to local attractions including Mont St Michel, a granite museum,
the Apple and Pear museum (this is the home of Calvados), the
home of Christian Dior, and finally Utah Beach.
There was a super
barbecue at Sue & Peter's home on the first evening, and then
excellent dinners at mill restaurants on the next two evenings.
The desert at the second of these must have been the chef's signature
dish - a concoction of gooey chocolate pudding, ice cream, sculptured
biscuit and spun sugar. He may have had our tractions in mind,
because the biscuit looked suspciously like a fuel pump heat shield,
and the spun sugar spiral was not unlike a carburator return spring.
For those who stayed another night there was a barbecue at Vicki
& Martin's home. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and once again
our thanks to the organisers.
