e-Floating Power – "E-FP"
Most TOC Members receiving this email will probably have read in Floating Power about the proposal to start a new, regular, email Members' newsletter and may have received one of the test transmissions sent during July.
The TOC committee, at its meeting on 7th September 2008, approved the launch of E-FP as an email-only communication to the TOC Members who have chosen to provide their email addresses to the Club.
No copies of this newsletter will be printed or posted to Members without email facilities or who have chosen not to provide their email address to the Club.
Members' 'Wanted' advertisements will appear in E-FP but not Members' 'Sale' advertisements.
This is because the committee decided that publishing 'Sale' advertisements in E-FP would potentially disadvantage Members who do not receive the newsletter.
All 'For Sale' advertisements received by the Editor will therefore still be held over until the next edition of Floating Power - exactly as they have always been.
More details about what is planned for E-FP appear in the September/October issue of Floating Power itself.
September/October issue of Floating Power
Talking about the September/October edition of Floating Power, the good news is that it has now been printed and should be posted out to all TOC Members later today (Tuesday 23rd September).
You should therefore expect to receive your copy within a few days.
Hopefully production should be back on schedule for the November/December issue - which you should receive at the beginning of November.
2009 TOC Calendar
Time is rapidly running out for submission of photographs to the 2009 TOC Calendar competition.
The competition will close at the end of September - in just one week's time - so if you haven't sent in your entry please do so as soon as possible.
The current plan is that the 2009 calendar - which will be similar in style and format to the 2008 calendar - will be posted out with the November/December issue of Floating Power at the end of October.
This will allow ample time for Members to purchase additional copies and to post them anywhere in the world before Christmas.
An imminent estate sale which includes a 1938 TA Cabriolet
Mark Gluck, a TOC Member in the USA, has advised of the auction of the estate of the late Red Dellinger - a long-time Citroen mechanic and restorer - in Mechanicsburg, USA, on Tuesday 30th September.
In addition to a huge amount of garage and workshop equipment - which is almost certainly of interest only to people in the USA - there are a number of Citroen cars that might be of interest to TOC Members (especially given the current state of the US dollar).
The cars that will be sold at the auction include:
- a fabulous 1938 Citroen Traction Avant Cabriolet
- a 1955 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL
- a 1972 Citroen DS-21 Saloon type 11-71
- an unrestored 1939 Citroen 1/2 ton pickup
- an unrestored 1972 2CV4 Saloon
- an unrestored 1973 2CV4 Saloon
The auction will be conducted by auctioneers J Omar Landis.
Any TOC Member interested in obtaining more details of the above vehicles and in possibly bidding by telephone should contact Jim Landis at bid2menow@comcast.net as there are formalities that must be completed before a telephone bid can be submitted and accepted.
TOC Club Spares
Chris Treagust, who is an unpaid volunteer, operates the TOC Club Spares operation for us with support from Tony Hodgekiss and Steve Reed.
This means that at certain times Chris will not be available to answer the telephone and an answering machine will be in operation.
At these times will Members wishing to order parts please leave a clear, brief, concise message detailing the parts that they require and including their name and telephone number for Chris to call back on if necessary.

Classic Motor Show
The TOC will again have a stand at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC (14th to 16th November). Any TOC Member with a Big 6 or a Commerciale they are willing to loan for use on the stand should contact Mick or Moira Holmes (who are in charge of organising this year's stand) as soon as possible.

The TOC AGM will be held at the Quality Inn, Walsall, West Midlands on Sunday November 23rd. The meeting will start at 11am and all Members are invited to attend.
